Zali Steggall is an independent MP representing the electorate of Warringah since 2019 when she defeated former PM Tony Abbott, who was unwilling to listen to the concerns of his electorate for action on climate change. A former professional alpine skier, she won a bronze medal in slalom at the 1998 Winter Olympics and a gold medal at the 1999 World Championships.
Before entering politics, Steggall worked as a barrister and is known as an MP for her advocacy on climate action and integrity in politics.
