Volunteer Agreement

We want you to enjoy your work as a volunteer.  While we have an important job to do, we also want you to create new friendships and have fun!

To ensure a positive experience for all involved, all volunteers commit to our values below:

VALUES:

Positivity: This campaign is about being our best selves. We take a positive approach and encourage active participation. We encourage optimism, initiative and empowerment of the community to make a positive impact.

Why? Positivity attracts people to the movement, and inspires a better way of doing politics.

Integrity: We act with integrity. We will be transparent in our decisions and accountable in our actions. We will communicate with honesty and openness. We will seek information from reputable sources and take an evidence based and ethical approach to decision making.

Why?  By demonstrating integrity, we build trust and credibility with voters.

Inclusion & Respect: We act with kindness and respectfulness to everyone. We engage in active listening, and ensure every person has a voice. We will be sensitive to the needs of different people. We respect personal boundaries. We foster a supportive and safe environment for people to be themselves. Conflicts should be resolved through respectful and constructive discussion. We recognise and appreciate the input of all volunteers and supporters.

Why? Inclusion and respect builds a strong community and give people a safe space to be themselves.

Equality: We promote equitable opportunities and outcomes for all, regardless of gender, race, religion, ability or other characteristics. Everyone deserves a fair go. We welcome a diversity of voices from people of all backgrounds, cultures, identities and perspectives.  We recognise that diversity makes us stronger. All voices have the opportunity to be heard and valued.

Why? Politics is for the people, and that is what we wish to promote.

Sustainability: We are committed to creating a better future for all, with a focus on environment, economy and community. Where possible we will minimise our environmental impact, and commit to reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Why? We want to protect our environment and our community for future generations, and set an example of how a community can work together to create a better, cleaner future.

Fun: Create fun wherever you go – is there a local musician who can play at a volunteer event? Should there be pizza? What can you do that’s a bit out of the ordinary that people will want to get involved with?

Why? Fun is not just for fun! It attracts and retains volunteers, brings positive spirit which creates enthusiasm and energy to put more effort into the campaign and achieving our goals.

As long as you and all volunteers act within the values, you can undertake any activity which may benefit the campaign.
