Sophie Scamps MP - Independent for Mackellar (NSW)

Dr. Sophie Scamps is the Independent MP for Mackellar, elected in 2022. She has lived and worked on the northern beaches of Sydney for 25 years, serving the community as a doctor in the Emergency Department of Mona Vale Hospital and as a GP in Narrabeen. She founded the non-profit organization Our Blue Dot in 2019 to reduce waste and emissions. Sophie is also a former athlete, having competed internationally in track and field. She holds degrees from the University of Sydney, Oxford University and the University of NSW

  • Secured amendments to the Environmental Protection Biodiversity Act to improve national environmental standards and protections

  • Helped her community apply for and receive grants totalling over $133 million

  • Supports increased funding for arts and culture, and arts education in schools and tertiary institutions
