Integrity in politics
Australians should be able to have confidence in their politicians and know that policies and decisions are being made in a fair and transparent way.
Corruption in politics undermines the entire democratic process, and it is in the interests of all constituents that steps be taken to investigate and eradicate corruption.
We need a Federal Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) to restore trust and accountability.
We need a complete reform of the political donations rules, to ensure that donations are not influencing policy makers. We need investigation into “pork barrelling” by Government to “buy” votes. We need to bring integrity back into politics, and ensure public funds are fairly invested.
This policy will:
1. Ensure transparency of donations, in real time;
2. Keep politicians accountable;
3. Ensure public funds are distributed in a fair and equitable manner.
