Where does Deb stand on...
Some short explanations on Deb's policy positions for many of the current issues. If there are issues that are important to you that are not listed below, please get in touch.
PreferencesAll we ask is that you put Deb number 1 on your ballot.
You are best placed to decide who gets your preferences - you don’t have to follow what anyone’s how to vote card says. Think about who will best represent your values, and vote accordingly. This election is not about preference deals - this election is about you |
Aged CareThe Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety report made a number of recommendations, but to date, none have been implemented. I support implementation of all recommendations of the Royal Commission, to ensure high quality care to residents, and support and retain good staff in the industry.

Affordable housingAffordable housing is a major issue across the electorate. I will fight for more federal funding for social and community housing, and housing solutions, and ensure this is allocated to rural and regional areas.
Housing development should be within existing town boundaries, and should be minimum 7 star efficiency standards, to keep running costs low for the occupants. |
Indue CardMuch of the older community have given me feedback about the Indue Card – people who have worked their whole life and always managed their own finances should not be punished with this restrictive card. If people are not able to manage their finances, then support should be given to those people to assist them with finances and any other life skills they may need help with.

Tax reformThe Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman recommendation need to be adopted to make tax compliance easier and more business friendly.
The Coalition has left us with a massive debt. There will need to be reform on both the spending and revenue sides of the budget |
NDISThe NDIS is a fundamental government service. Funding should be a fix proportion of GDP to provide stability to those who receive its support.
I support fully funding the NDIS |
Telecommunications
We need to be connected now more than ever. I have had people tell me that in parts of the electorate, that phone and internet service is unreliable. Investment is needed to ensure stable telecommunications is accessible for all, particularly in extreme weather events such as storms, floods and fires, to ensure the safety of our community.
I support the the Faster Internet for Regional Australia Bill .

Young people I am particularly passionate about representing the young people of Monash, who will bear the legacy of what happens in the next 3 years of Federal Parliament. I want to empower young people to get involved with politics, because ultimately, they are the ones going to be most affected in the future of decisions being made now.
I will mentor any young people that are interested in a pathway to politics. If this is you, please get in touch. To give young people the best start in life we need more youth services, better access to mental health services, more opportunities for youth activities and healthy socialisation. |
InfrastructureWe need federal funding for infrastructure projects such as the Warragul Hospital, Drouin Bypass, Phillip Island Vietnam Veterans Museum, regional high speed electric rail network, and aquatic centres. All these provide our community the services it needs and deserves.
|
FarmingFederal subsidies for solar panels and batteries on farms will provide significant energy costs savings, as well as avoiding disruption to power supply.
I support the National Agricultural Workforce Strategy to ensure farm workers are properly skilled and retained in the workforce. |
Refugees and asylum seekers
Our countries current approach lacks empathy and compassion. Most Australians have had a taste of what detention is like during our Covid-19 lockdowns. And may are horrified to find that people under our care have been enduring these conditions for years. I support closing offshore detention and process refugees in a timely manner
These are the issues I am hearing are important to all of us. I am open to hearing from constituents about what other issues are important. I am committed to listening and taking action in line with community values.
As an independent, I can draw the attention of Federal Government to maximise benefits to our community. I am not confined to vote along party lines, and I am not influenced by big corporate donations or union slush funds. I’m going to vote for what’s right, and what’s in the best interests of the community.
I will listen to what the community have to say.
