Fairness for all members of our community is a community in which we can all prosper. A strong economy relies on utilising skills from all backgrounds. Everyone deserves to be heard and valued.
This policy will:
- We need equitable parental leave – each parent should be entitled to the same amount of paid leave to bond with their child.
- We need better childcare subsidies to ensure all parents, particularly women, are not disincentivised to return to work.
- We need to implement the recommendations of the “Respect @ Work Report" and support workplaces to implement measures to ensure safe workplaces for women.
- We need to commit to reconciliation with our First Nations people, and embrace the principles of the Uluru Statement of the Heart
- We need support for our LBGTQIA+ community to ensure they can live their best lives, free from harm.
- We need support for people of all abilities to actively participate in the workforce and education system without discrimination.
This policy will:
- Support women to return to work
- Support men to spend more time with children
- Increase tax revenue from a larger workforce
- Promote productivity and creativity stemming from a diverse workforce
- Benefit businesses by ensuring healthier, safer and more productive workplaces
